Obama - Stop Apologizing

Obama, everyone knows what John McCain did in a prison camp in Vietnam.  And everyone knows that because he has an (R) by his name, it is off-limits to question his military service (that only works if you have purple hearts and a D by your name).  But you don't have to bring it up everytime you talk about him.  In fact, you shouldn't, so stop.

This morning I was walking to work and reading the news on my phone when I came acrossed an article where Obama was hitting McCain on the economy.  I was excited to see the MSM picking up a major, substantive criticism of McCain.  But I was distressed by the quote from Obama.  He prefaced his criticism with "John McCain has served our country, no one questions....blah blah blah."

This, of course, has nothing to do with the economy.  McCain has spent the last 3 years serving himself, the White House, and his political ambition.  His move to the neo-con right has been so clear and labored that he left lines in the sand - we can point right to the move.  He has a cabinet made up of lobbyists and snake oil salesman who dress up neo-con corporation loving policy in avergage joe American straight-talk mythology.

John McCain might have served his country in the 1960s but it isn't his country he is serving now.  Obama needs to be strong on this, and take a cue from Richard Clarke who has had my favorite line of the election so far.  Clarke said recently in a conference call that he did not question McCain's patriotism - it just seemed that to McCain, loving your country and lying to your country were not contradictory actions.

So Obama, hit McCain where it hurts - the truth about who he's become and the agenda he now serves.  Don't play into the bogus pseudo-patriotic notion that his service in Vietnam excuses (let me count the ways this has been brought up) his cheating on a very sick wife, his lack of intellectual curiosity and fortitude with regard to issues, and most recently, his cheating at the SaddleBack debate.

Stop reminding America of who John McCain used to be and talk about the shape-shifting, power hungry, quick drawing, corporate loving, neo-conservative that he is.

Man I 100% agree. BO doesn't need to question McCain's patriotism or service, etc, but quick prefacing every (legit) criticism with compliments. The R's are hitting Obama's patriotism and love for country subtly and not-so-subtly at every turn. Obama's response has been to seemingly cede that advantage to McCain, not only cede, but actually support! Dude, you're trying to run a positive campaign, a new kind of politics, I know, it's why I voted for you over HRC, but don't roll over for this flip-flopping, out of touch, hot-head, neo-con, lying SOB.

Re: Obama - Stop Apologizing (none / 0)

It's really quite important that he spent months doing this.  "John McCain is a great man who served his country with honor, but..."

Why?  Because now that McCain is questioning Obama's character, Obama can say "I've never questioned John McCain's character just because we disagree on policy" and attack McCain for attacking him.

That may be, but now its time to change gears.

John McCain isn't evil. He's just wrong about a lot of things. Vote Obama!

What I mean to say if my browser will cooperate is...  I agree, it's a good time to change gears now that the attacks are coming.  Doesn't have to actually attack McCain's character, but doesn't have to go out of his way to compliment it either.

I have to agree that Obama has kissed enough vet-butt with regard to McPOW. It's time to remind them how much he's hurt them over the years in cahoots with Bushit.
